Founder, CEO

John is an entrepreneur and startup CFO. By applying the Weekly Accounting methodology, John has helped companies prepare for, raise and grow and sell executing over hundred debt financings, dozens of rounds of venture capital and private equity financing, two IPOs, seven sales of secondary stock, sixteen acquisitions and the sale of multiple companies — one twice.

John has played the role of co-founder, founding investor, board member and full or fractional CFO to venture financed companies like Assembled Brands (raised $100m), General Assembly (acquired for $413m), Second Life (grew revenue 8x to profitability) and many many more.

What’s something about your connection to Weekly Accounting that few people might know?

Jeff and I have been incubating Weekly Accounting since Jeff graduated from college in 2010. We started BrightZen in 2011 and registered WeeklyAccounting.com in 2020. I just couldn’t believe it was available. I think it means that accountants don’t think weekly, or they don’t know how to register domain names.
