The Fig and The Leaf
Once there was a fig
Planted in the ground
It grew a leaf and then a stem
About a quarter inch around.
The root system kept growing.
Sun was plentiful.
The little tree kept growing
Like spring so duty full
Then it grew a few figs
And gave all the food to them
Didn’t grow any leaves
From root up through the stem.
The roots still had room to grow
Leaves pushing to the light
They pushed a new plant through the ground
Much to their delight.
